Movies of 2009 : ccs's pick

Welcome to my 1st posting of the year. 2010. I'm an inconsistent person. There are people who put up their post so frequently while I'm not. If you are reading ccschronicles now, I truthfully appreciate your viewing effort because I know, it's hard to follow one blog which does not update from time to time. The reason being, I can't find any inspiration to write something or any interesting topic. So, before my assignments and projects start pouring in, lets put up something to renew the blog while possible. ;)

As normally would, I'm a movie buff. Movies of 2009 had been great. :). A lot of my picks are either met up to my expectations or some of them even exceeding it. I'm not yet or not even a film critic, but that doesn't stop me from watching movies critically and thoughtfully. It is not just for the sake of enjoying one movie but to think about them, sometimes. I have too. :)

Here's my pick for the top 8 movies (because i can only think of 8 that are most watchable) of 2009.

8. The Hangover
7. Bodyguards and Assassins
6. District 9
5. Precious : Base on the novel "Push" by Sapphire
4. Avatar
3. Inglourious Basterds
2. Up
1. (500) Days of Summer

Others which could make the list but due to their unavailability or doesn't create interest in me include:
The Hurt Locker(Drama, War), The Cove(Documentary), Up In The Air(Drama), Star Trek(not interested because I'm a Star Wars guy)( Si-fi).

ps: There are reasons behind regarding the ranking of my picks. As what i said, I watch movies and I think about them and even feel them. To actually write a review on any movie, there's still a long way for me to go. I need to get my words articulation in shape and equipped my brain with more knowledge and vocabulary(words of expression) before i can actually start writing about them.

Bonus posting: I watched Avatar in 3D and after watching it, I've made up my mind not to watch any other movies in 3D again unless necessary. It's not that bad as it sounds after all. The movie in 3D is making up the hype and there's no doubt that quite a lot of people are liking it. But for me, I still prefer the conventional way of watching movie. The reasons are:

(1) My head is small. The pair of 3D glasses is big. So imagine this : I placed both my hands holding the frame of the glasses through out the 2 and the half movie. Luckily the film is awesome. If not, that'd be depressing.

(2) The screen is smaller than expected. I was expecting a 35mm film and the screen happened to be just another smaller screen than the usual cinema screen. Maybe it's a 3D requirement. If so, it's right to forfeit the pursuing of 3D.

(3) My expectation and imagination of watching 3D is a little bit exaggerating than the real 3D being offered in GSC. Maybe I'll reach that expectation when I go iMAX. ps: I thought that the any objects of the screen will reach out to the audience and make them go awe all the way. But, not really lah...although it's still distinctively 3D.

(4) The 3D glasses itself does affect the sight. The screen simply goes darker when you put the glasses on and thus, makes the film less engaging.

So, do you like to watch movie in 3D ?
