jom wayang !!

Many of you out there may not know that I'm actually an amatuer movie buff - yes, the one who chases good movies be it Hollywood(Commercial or the Academy Awards), Cannes, Hong Kong China, far east or even south east Asia ! as long as it's a great work =) . For the sake of updating this blog let me share some of the movies that you MIGHT NOT wanna miss for this year's :D

Before i could start to share those movies, let me have some words by telling you that those movies are my recommendations and at the same time might not be applicable or suit you. All of them are my predictions/own personal opinions that would be some good piece of work. So here goes....

*There's no ranking. The movies are placed randomly.

1. Up

SYNOPSIS : At age 78, life seems to have passed Carl Fredricksen by, until a twist of fate (and a persistent 8-year old named Russell) gives him a new lease on life

Personal : This is another adventure animation by Disney.Pixar. Do expect the next Wall-E, Ratatouille, Finding Nemo, Cars - type of movie..and also watch out for the next Oscars ! xD

2. Public Enemies

Synopsis : No one could stop John Dillinger and his gang. No jail could hold him. His charm and audacious jailbreaks endeared him to almost everyone -- from his girlfriend Billie Frechette to an American public who had no sympathy for the banks that had plunged the country into the Depression. But while the adventures of Dillinger' gang -- later including Baby Face Nelson and Alvin Karpis -- thrilled many, J. Edgar Hoover made Dillinger America's first Public Enemy Number One and sent in Melvin Purvis, the dashing "Clark Gable of the FBI." However, Dillinger and his gang outwitted and outgunned Purvis' men in wild chases and shootouts. Only after importing a crew of Western ex-lawmen (newly baptized as agents) and orchestrating epic betrayals -- from the infamous "Lady in Red" to the Chicago crime boss Frank Nitti -- were Purvis, the FBI and their new crew of gunfighters able to close in on Dillinger.

Personal : The plot is kinda complicated. Starring Johnny Depp and Christian Bale.

3. Sell Out !

Synopsis:
Her name is Rafflesia Pong (Rafflesia=largest flower in the world, which reeks of animal carcass; Pong=stink). She’s a bottom-ranking arts show host who’s disillusioned with “those over-rated underachievers we call artists.” He’s Eric Tan (Eric=Eric, Tan=typical Chinese surname), a product designer who’s just about to learn that it doesn’t pay to be creative. They both work for FONY, a multinational conglomerate whose mission statement, copied from a Taiwanese company, is to be original.

In the face of such pressure, will Eric and Rafflesia retain their artistic integrityor will they finally sell out to fame, fortune or some other nasty thing that also starts with “F”?

Personal : Support-lah Malaysian movie...I'm looking forward to get a copy of DVD for this movie. And i'm kinda proud that the Malaysian director(Yeo Joon Han) able to write and direct such a much-applause movie which had been impressive at various film festival around the world !

4. Departures(Japan)

synopsis :

There he gets a job as an undertaker. He sees himself as a sort of gatekeeper between life and death. However, Daigo's work is despised by all the people around him. But it is through his relationship with death on a daily basis that Daigo begins to understand what life is really about.

5. Inglorious Basterds

6. Earth
