Trippin : Perhentian Island

After weeks of intensity with hectic schedule of just studying, reading and memorizing for the sake of making the grades so that me and my coursemates can get through the next stage of varsity level..well, it's finally time for us to find a vacation spot to fulfill the so called "a rare chance for friends to gather around and having fun-filled holiday together". Consequently the majority chose Island-hoping-adventure-oriented as the next hit after Genting Highlands which was our first tripping(2008) among university friends. Therefore, we chose Perhentian Island featuring Redang Island and Lang Tengah as the secondary spot(island hoping-mah~).

As you can see from the picture above...this trip was inclusive of 4 couples and 4 singles. I wasn't inside the photo because i was incharge of taking this picture. The lady(sitted)..her name is Peggy Wong. And this picture is directed by her. There's a series of continuous photos after the shot. The idea behind this is after every single shot, there will be a person missing while the rest(which remain in the frame) will act stiff and as if nothing had happen. At the end these shots, Peggy will be the only one sitting while the rest missing form the frame. Next !!..

Back to the beginning, we went there by sitting the agency's van(Toyota I think). All of us(12 people) were able to squeeze inside the van quite comfortably. And the experience of reaching the destination went quite a little bit of horribly wrong for me as i was at the rear seat of the van and was experiencing a 6-hours bumpy ride all the way to one of the east states of Malaysia, Terrenganu. The ride was a pain in the ass and i got car-sick. We reached Kuala Besut by 5a.m. prior departure by speed boat to Perhentian Island.*with high-kept optimism hoping the trip would be fun*.We met our tour guide Mr.Tan at Kuala Besut. He's a nice guy after all by treating us with food, fine hospitality and ofcourse his antics of saying something nice to you and then followed by "kai wan xiao ba liao" literally meaning "i joke with you only"...

Arrived at Pulau Perhentian and it was still before noon. First impression, blue-clear and clean sea water clad with white sandy beach. A complete beautiful scenery, paradise for a first-timer like me. Next is to check in to the booked chalet. Unfortunately, the four singles were told that there were people inside their room and not yet checked out. Therefore, the four singles have to wait for them to check out and wait for house keeping before they can enter. Fine. But all of us were damn tired..and were trying to get some sleep. Hence, I have to sleep by the beach and enjoy the sunny weather kononnya. The fun part of the trip came when we get to venture around the island and went snorkeling. The highlight of the day would be the encounter with sea turtle. Some of us were able to get a closer look and even try to touch the peaceful sea creature as Mr.Tan and his assistant caught the whole turtle up to the sea surface and at the same time we were in the sea. It was really a great experience though(:D). And the following day we went to Redang Island and Lang Tengah with more snorkeling and i had great time to snorkel without using life-jacket. It's considered a complement for an amatuer swimmer like me xD.

Overall review : It would be a lot fun if u go to this kind of place with this kind of activity with a bunch of friends(preferably the adventurous-type) rather than with half dozen of loving couples. I would describe the trip as lack of interactivity and inclusiveness among us because every time I try to interact(taking pictures or having conversation) with either one of them, I have to think twice to do so which i ended up not doing anything and kept to myself. You will find yourself getting lack of response from them(especially friends which you're close with before) as they have their own obsessive partners. My verdict for this trip : 6 out of 10.
